Blog update
Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 09:26AM Wow. What a couple of months it has been. I apologize for the lack of updates on this blog, however I have been so busy that I haven’t had much of a chance to do more than update my Facebook account with little snippits. Why the lack of content? I have been to Africa twice since early September, leading 4 separate photographic safaris between the countries of Botswana and Namibia. That’s a ton of time in the bush in such a short period of time. Let’s break it down: 3 safari groups in Botswana and 1 group to Namibia, totaling 6 weeks in the bush since September 8. Given that I don’t live in Africa, the flying back and forth between continents has put a strain on my energy levels as well as on my family life. Needless to say I am glad to be home to be with my family for the Christmas holidays.
Let’s break down my time in the bush by separately writing about each safari, which I will do in separate posts over the next couple of days. I have so much to write about, from unique wildlife sightings to unique moments with my travelers, so it will be best for me to split up the posts.
I want to wish everybody a wonderful holiday season, no matter where you are or what your belief system is. Time spent with loved ones is extremely important to the Biggs family, and we want to extend our own Christmas blessings to you.

And, Jim and I want to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas and a great New Year! Also, this is a great opportunity to tell you what a wonderful and exciting time we had joining you on a Botswana Photo Safari in late November, 2012. The food, the African people, the camps, the guides, were all delightful, and you couldn't have asked for better service.
It was a special time for us . . . a dream of a lifetime. Thank you for leading and putting this all together. And, a side note: I am so pleased with my photos. With your direction, I was able to pull off some great images.
Looking forward to hearing about your 2012 safaris! Also curious to hear how the Canon gear stacked up against your Nikon setup. Keep up the great work, love your blog!
Beau, I think of Canon and Nikon gear as one in the same. The more you move up in each lineup, the more the features will help you out on safari. I moved to Nikon a few years ago in order to use the 200-400mm f/4, and now that Canon will have their version of that lens I think the two companies are neck and neck for the safari photographer. With that being said I only took 1 camera and 2 lenses with me this time. Crazy. I took:
Canon 1Dx
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS II
Canon 300mm f/4 L IS
Andy, very much agree about how similar Canon and Nikon are. Not to mention that Pentax, Olympus, Sony, among others are perfectly fine tools as well. Too much is said how great one is and how the other is terrible, etc. Just was curious as to how it was for you to shoot Canon again after shooting with Nikon the last while. Didn't even know about the medium format gear you had. I thought you had purchased D800's?
