About Andy

I am an avid adventurer, conservationist, teacher, and outdoor photographer whose photography celebrates the African landscape and its rich wildlife, people, and culture. My photographic safaris allow my travelers to not only enhance their understanding of photography, lighting, and wildlife, but to develop a life-long admiration for Africa ‘s beauty and culture.

Banana Republic recently used my photographs as the cornerstone of their Urban Safari campaign, and my images were seen in all 750 stores around the globe, as well as in their billboards, catalogs and annual report. I was also the winner of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year in the ‘Wild Places’ category in 2008 and a highly commended in the ‘Creative Visions of Nature’ category in 2007.

I launched Gura Gear in 2008, in an attempt to deliver lightweight camera bags to the market. I was looking for a lightweight camera bag to hold all of my photographic gear, and there was nothing desirable on the market that suited my needs. After spending 2 years with many prototypes, the Gura Gear Kiboko bag was born. More products are now available on the Gura Gear web site.

Banana Republic store interior

For those friends that do not live near or have access to a Banana Republic store, here are some quick photographs that I took last week from the BR store near Union Square, San Francisco. I wish I had better images of the large prints in the store windows, but I was unable to make it to the store at night to grab some more images. The daytime images all have intense reflections in them, which is distracting.

Hey, nice deal! I saw your stuff in the BR store in NC. It looks great. Were those shots IR or just mono? Some of the greenery has that IR look to it.

Thanks, Sean. A few of the shots were infrared, and most of them were just plain old black and white images.

Andy - How cool it must be to see your images used like this. Gives me goose bumps! You must be so proud and you should be. As a longtime admirer of your work, sincerest kudos to you!

Great pictures !!!

I really want to know their paint color on the wall.
It is beautiful. Does anybody know their paint color?
It looks like some kind of 'Taupe' color with gray tint.

According to Casa Sugar the paint color is Sherwin Williams' Balanced Beige. I was just in my Banana Store the other day and loved the color, I called and asked an employee and they said it was this paint color also.
