Good question. I have a very heavy load of printing on a monthly basis, and I need a high capacity printer for printing a large number of cut sheets. I do print on many types of paper, which means I also need to have the ability to switch between matte papers and glossy type papers many times in a single day.
The Epson 4880 does not fit these requirements for me, but the Epson 3800 partially fits. I love the output on the 3800, but the paper handling isn't well suited for my needs. I would like to put a stack of fine art cotton rag paper in a cassette tray, and then walk away for a little while. The 3800 requires me to babysit the printer, which gets old after a while.
I have not used a Canon IPF printer before, so this will be a new experience for me. I have heard of many quirks in their drivers, and I plan on writing up my experiences from the get go.
